Obituary for William Randall "Randy" Helton
Randy Helton, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and husband passed away April 26th 2020 at the age of 57.
Randy succumbed to a short but intense battle with several lung infections that led to sepsis. He had a lot to fight for and fought with every ounce of strength he had. He passed away in the late morning of April 26th in the loving arms of his daughter and his wife by his side.
Loving parent to; Brittany Hutchens (Thomas Merrill). Loving grandparent to; London, Keira, Ethan, Charlie & Sage Merrill. Loving husband to Kim Helton (nee Elam) Beloved brother to; Harold Helton (Leann) and Uncle to Tracy (Chris) Smith, Tonja Helton, Gary Helton, Katie (Robb) O’Dell, Brandy (Randall) Trussell, Kandie (Mark) Jones, Christina Douglas, Patti Lindsay, Jeff Eaton, numerous great-nieces and nephews and their children.
He joins in passing; His father and mother, Silas and Juanita Helton. As well as his beloved dogs Tyler, Taylor, Sasha, Scooter and Duck.
Randy extremely cherished his grandchildren, family, friends and of course his four legged friends.
He was a loud voice in the drag racing world, which started with his first Nova in 1978. This lead him into a lifetime of racing, business and many life long racing family members. After becoming a successful drag racer, he took his racing talents and business talents to collaborate with his long time best friend Kelly Estes and created the Ultimate 64 Shootout in 2006. This still happens yearly for one of the very best events for IHRA racers of the year.
His constant donation and adoption of shelter dogs was a very special cause for Randy. He always had room and time to help the dogs in need. His life was dominated by children and dogs. It didn’t need to be his dogs, his child or his grandchildren for him to be “Papa” to all. All children and furry creatures were the light in the world to him, and he treated them as such. He donated so much to children and dog causes it was a long standing joke that he would go bankrupt for funding so many children-in-need’s Christmas mornings and mistreated dogs vet bills.
Randy is a man of many accomplishments in the business world and compassionate acts. For many he was the man you called when you were in trouble or need. With his auto repair shop he was a popular destination for commute needs and always had extra cars on site to help those in need of a way for transportation if their car needed fixed but they couldn’t afford a rental. Those put in situations such as this know just how kind those actions are. The world is a little dimmer for a lot of people to not have that sturdy rock to lean on.
Randy’s life cannot be summed up in one writing. His life was rich with many accomplishments and successes. His actions will ripple on in so many lives and he will continue to collect accomplishments through many years. He is so deeply missed, and will live on through his moments and memories with others.

Services; In the current state of the country we cannot celebrate him properly, just yet. He was cared for by a vast amount of people and deserves to have a proper celebration. There will be no “funeral” but a party of loud proportions. Collect your stories and you photos and await a date and bring all for a celebration in his honor.
