Obituary for Raymond Hicks

Raymond Hicks, age 87, passed away on May 27th, 2020 in his home in West Carrollton, Ohio.

Raymond Hicks, son of May and Oscar Hicks, was born on June 14, 1932 in Cumberland County, Kentucky.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 67 years, Doris Jean Hicks, and his daughter, Cindy Jean Hicks Snyder.

Raymond leaves behind a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Raymond was an honorable United States Air Force Veteran. Shortly after he joined the Air Force, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Jean Mendenhall in Bernalillo, New Mexico, on April 1, 1952. He continued to live a life of honor as he later worked for the Kettering Police Department.

Raymond is remembered for the love he had for his family, gardens, canine companions, and every person who entered his life.

There were many people Raymond adopted into the Hicks family, that he loved and cared for tremendously. He had an infectious smile and could fill a room with laughter with his jokester personality. He will be greatly missed by many but through their grief, they can find comfort knowing he’s finally reunited with the love of his life and soulmate, Doris, and his daughter, Cindy.

Family and friends may gather at 3 pm on Wednesday June 3rd for a graveside service at Mt Zion Shoup Cemetery.
A memorial service will be later that evening at 7pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church - 2928 Wilmington-Dayton Road Bellbrook, OH 45305.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Kettering Police Foundation in lieu of flowers.
